After lunch, we visited 2 homes that were built by CALMS teams. The first one was built for a 79 year old widow. She was so proud of it! She kept it so clean and neat and was thrilled that we came to visit her. She got out chairs for all of us to sit in. The next picture is of her outside kitchen where she does all of her cooking. Then there is a picture of the outside of the house. Then another kitchen picture, and then you will see the proud grandma with her 2 granddaughters. The amazing thing about these girls, was that both of them were pursuing their education. One was already a teacher and they were showing us pages that they had made to teach little children to read. So many of the teenage girls have no dreams for the future and quit school after 2nd or 3rd grade. But this grandma and her granddaughters had hope for the future - they are Christians who attend the little Lutheran Church and this home has also changed their lives. The bottom photos are of her garden which she planted. In the midst of all of the hopelessness in the area, there is a beautiful oasis of hope.
Wonderful pictures and stories - love the garden! Thanks for taking time to share all this!
